Grid Break docs
Everything about how the game works, from your first cell to the on-chain proof behind every draw.
Overview
Grid Break is an on-chain game on Solana. Every round puts one real graded trading card up for grabs. You burn $BREAK to claim cells on a grid, a provably fair draw picks one cell, and whoever holds it wins.
- Real cards. PSA, CGC and BGS slabs from Collector Crypt, vaulted and tokenized on Solana.
- Real burns. Every cell destroys $BREAK forever. Nothing goes to a team wallet.
- Provably fair. The winning cell comes from a VRF proof the program checks on-chain, and anyone can re-check it on the verify page.
- Automatic. Rounds open, draw and pay out by themselves. Winners don't claim anything.
How to play
- Connect a Solana wallet (Phantom, Solflare, Backpack…) holding $BREAK and a little SOL for fees.
- Pick cells on the current grid. You can take several, up to half the grid.
- Burn. Approve one transaction. It burns about $10 worth of $BREAK per cell and records your cells on-chain.
- Wait for the draw. When the timer hits zero, entries lock and one cell is drawn.
- Win. If you hold the drawn cell, the card or your USDC share arrives in your wallet automatically.
You can add more cells to the same round while it's open, up to the limit.
Rounds and grids
- Length: each round runs 5 minutes. The next one opens as soon as the previous one has paid out.
- Grid: rounds are currently 4×4 (16 cells).
- One card per round. The prize is shown next to the grid, with its grade, value and a link to Collector Crypt.
- Cells are shared. Several wallets can hold the same cell, and the grid shows how many are on each.
Prizes and payouts
When a cell is drawn, there are three possible outcomes:
One holder
That wallet wins the card. The program sends it straight to their wallet within seconds.
Several holders
They split the card's value in USDC, equal shares, paid from the treasury. The card rolls over to the next round.
Nobody on it
No winner. The card rolls over to the next round.
Payouts are sent automatically, so you never need to claim. Every result links to its transaction on Solscan.
The cards
- Prizes are graded cards from Collector Crypt. Each one is a real slab stored in an insured vault, tokenized as an NFT on Solana.
- The card's value is Collector Crypt's insured value. That is the amount split winners share.
- During a round the card is held in escrow by the Grid Break program, not by a person. Only the program can move it, and only to a winner.
- Won a card? It's yours: hold it, trade it, or redeem the physical slab through Collector Crypt.
- New cards are pulled from Collector Crypt gacha packs automatically, so there's always a card ready for the next round.
The $BREAK token
- $BREAK is the game's token. Entering a round burns it: the tokens are destroyed, permanently reducing supply.
- A cell costs about $10 worth of $BREAK. When each round opens, the token amount is set from the market price (the median over the previous 10 minutes, so a quick pump or dump can't swing it) and stays fixed for that round.
- Burns are final, win or lose. There are no refunds.
- The official contract address will be posted on our X account and here at launch. Ignore any other.
Provably fair draws
Nobody can choose or predict the winning cell, including us. Here's why:
- Entries lock first. When the timer ends, the program stops accepting entries, so every cell and its holders are fixed on-chain.
- A seed nobody knows yet. The draw is seeded with the hash of the Solana slot the draw request lands in. That hash doesn't exist while entries are open.
- One possible answer. The operator signs the seed with a VRF (verifiable random function) key registered on-chain permanently. A VRF gives exactly one valid output per input, so a result can't be picked or re-rolled.
- Checked on-chain. The program verifies the proof (ECVRF, RFC 9381) before it pays anything, then takes the winning cell from the VRF output.
- Checkable by you. Every proof is published to Collector Crypt's public VRF registry, and the verify page re-runs every check in your browser.
Treasury and funding
- Split payouts come from the treasury, a USDC account owned by the program.
- A round only opens when the treasury holds at least the card's value plus a safety buffer, so a split can always be paid in full.
- The treasury and new cards are funded by $BREAK trading fees.
- Everything is on-chain: the treasury balance and every payout can be checked on Solscan.
Rules and limits
- Up to half the grid per wallet (8 of 16 cells on a 4×4 grid). This stops one wallet from locking up a round.
- Entries close exactly when the round timer ends. Late transactions are rejected by the program.
- Each entry costs a small Solana network fee, plus about 0.002 SOL of rent for your entry record.
- Burned $BREAK is never refunded.
- The site is a window onto the program. The rules are enforced on-chain, not by the website.
FAQ
How much does a cell cost?+
About $10 worth of $BREAK, priced from the market when each round opens and fixed for that round. The exact amount is shown before you confirm.
Do I need to claim my prize?+
No. Cards and USDC shares are sent to the winning wallet automatically.
What if I hold the winning cell together with others?+
You split the card's value in USDC equally with the other holders, and the card goes into the next round.
Can I enter more than once in a round?+
Yes. Add cells any time before the timer ends, up to half the grid in total.
Does holding more cells help?+
Yes. Each cell you hold is one more chance of being on the drawn cell.
Can the team pick the winner?+
No. The program only accepts a valid VRF proof over a seed nobody could know in advance, and there's exactly one valid proof per round. See the verify page.
Where is the card during a round?+
In escrow, owned by the Grid Break program. You can see the owner on-chain from the prize panel.
Can I get the physical card?+
Yes. A won card is a Collector Crypt NFT, and you can redeem the slab through Collector Crypt.
What happens if nobody enters?+
The round closes without a draw and the card goes straight into the next round.

Risks
- Grid Break is a game of chance. Most entries don't win, and burned $BREAK is gone for good. Only play with what you're comfortable losing.
- Smart contracts can have bugs. The program is open to inspection on-chain, but it hasn't had a formal audit yet.
- Card values are Collector Crypt's insured values, and market prices can differ.
- Check that playing is legal where you live.
